TRUST. TRANSCEND. TRANSFORM.

Hello my friends! I am experiencing new lessons this week. I want to be transparent and say that I am working through these frustrations to deliver this message.

The words in the title came to me when I started thinking about what it’s going to take to meet my health goals, and truly become the woman I know I will be. I stopped calling it my fitness journey because it sounded so temporary to me. I’m reconstructing my lifestyle. I want to be healthy long-term, not just for the sake of my hot girl body, y’know? I’m not too concerned about how long it takes to get there. I’m focused on being mentally, emotionally and spiritually equipped to really get this thing done. So let’s get into it.

TRUST

Are you consistent? Are you committed? Do you believe YOU are worth the work? Answering these questions will help you decide if you’re ready to do everything necessary to meet your goals. Be honest. Your answer to these questions are probably ‘no’, because if it were yes, you would doubt yourself or procrastinate. This is important": I read somewhere that procrastinating is arrogant, because you’re assuming that time (God) will continually offer chances to complete a task. How many times have we started and stopped a passion project? How many times have we started going to the gym then “fell off”? I know. I said we because I’m in the same boat, but we’re changing that.

Here’s how we’re going to do it.

  1. DISCIPLINE | I mentioned earlier that procrastination is a signing of doubting yourself. We put off tasks because we're afraid of failure, and believe it or not, success! The key to becoming more discipline is telling yourself no when you want to say yes. For example, tell yourself no when you want to have an extra 600 calories before bed. Tell yourself no when you want to take an extra day off from the gym. Being able to tell yourself no is also a form or accountability. Practice makes perfect so practice healthy habits, telling yourself no and following through with your plan to do better.

  2. TIME MANAGEMENT | Once you get a schedule and routine going, good or bad habits are formed. We’re eating breakfast everyday at 8AM, gym at 1PM and dinner no later than 6PM. If you work 8 hour days, map out every hour of your day so you have a guide. Completing tasks an hour at a time helps prevent burnout as well.

  3. ACCOUNTABILITY | If you need an accountability partner, by all means do that. However, we have to learn to look at ourselves in the mirror and designate that person our partner. We can take care of ourselves, and we have to learn that we are our best friend, as well as our worst enemy (if we allow that).

TRANSCEND

I refuse to pressure myself to be 140 pounds by Juneteenth. Sometimes having concrete goals are important but realistic HEALTHY goals are way more efficient and fulfilling. Transcend means to rise above, to exceed a particular bar. If you're going to reach a new height you have to do some climbing and pulling your own weight. You're going to test your strength, the trust you have in yourself, and your will power. Do you really want it? What are you willing to do, to overcome? If you want to beat obesity, rise above hating physical activity. If you want to surpass your weight-lifting goal, get a spotter and go for it. It's levels to this baby, and you have to trust and push yourself to get to the next one.

TRANSFORM

The final stage of becoming this new person will always be dressing the part. I don't just mean putting clothes on your body, but adding the confidence, having the vision of a newly fulfilled, healthy, stable person. Do you notice a difference in your posture? Do you take your hygiene more seriously? Do you take extra time to meditate and enhance your sleep experience? Treat your body like a luxury car. Regular tune-ups, adorning it with things that elevate the overall function or purpose. What did Kim K say? We don't put bumper stickers on a beamer, okay?

If you need help starting this process, an accountability partner or some guidance on what specifically you need help with, book a free 30 minute lifestyle consultation with me. I really want to help you meet your goals, whatever they are.
