how to be fun-employed

Put a finger down if you’ve applied to 700 plus jobs in the last 4 months. Put a finger down if you’ve been ghosted by several recruiters. Put a finger down if you’ve been ghosted by recruiters that you’ve worked with previously. Put a finger down if — never mind, I’m done.
Let me tell you, this season has been more than a challenge, but I’m determined to see God work everything for my good, EVEN NOW! So, if you’re in the same boat, I want to talk to y’all about how we can stay encouraged and productive.
read a book
I’m reading the bible mostly, but it can be good to finally dive into those self-development books. Even if it’s a fictional book that gets your creative juices flowing, read it! As far as the bible goes, I’m reading anything that reminds me of how God plans good for my life, how I can trust Him in every season, and how this season will not last forever. Here are some suggestions I heard are really getting the girls excited to read. Click the books to add to your collection!

change your scenery
Sitting in your bed, applying for jobs every day until you get one is not gonna cut it. For me, going to the same office every single day does not cut it. Ever since I started working remotely in 2019, I have not stopped changing the environment I work in. I get bored SO EASILY with doing the same thing, in the same place, for long periods of time. Being around other people who are also working remotely helps you feel more like you have silent teammates. Changing up the scenery has also helped keep my mind awake and ready to accomplish something. Even if I’m just motivated to look like I’m working, it helps me get a little something done. Seriously. If for nothing else, people watching is fun to do while you work.
stay social
I am the most extroverted when I’m some place I’ve never been. I guess it’s comforting that no one knows me, and no one will unless I or someone else initiates conversation. You never know who you’re going to meet, so always dress for the part you want, not the one you have. Going out raggedy has never been my cup of tea because my mother always said, “You never know when you’ll meet your husband.” Now whether or not men are actually approaching women anymore is not my business, but my million dollar client may be watching somewhere. I like to stay ready so I don’t have to get ready. My point: expanding your network is always a good idea, especially when you’re looking for your next move.
